This year’s East Girls’ Basketball teams are ready to build off the success of last year! The East Girls’ Basketball team had an amazing 24-25 season (18-4), going all the way to states.
The Lady Patriots are coached by Liz Potash and assistant coach Lisa Gardner. Collectively the girls played with a lot of good chemistry. With returning players and some new additions, the team’s season was a success.
Haley Moran led the team in scoring with 448 points in her sophomore season alone. Jess Lockwood and Natalie Berndt also helped on offense. Lockwood scored 66 three-point shots; Berndt scored 60. Graduate Sydney Ralph had 100 rebounds and was the backbone for defensive plays.
The returning starting lineup has high expectations for not only the team but themselves: “My goal this season is to reach 1000 points and help my team make it to states,” said senior Jess Lockwood.
“I hope to make the most of my senior season and help lead us to districts and states, while leaving a positive legacy for CBEGBB,” said senior Natalie Berndt.
Junior Haley Moran stated that “I want to score 1,000+ points and be a more effective player all around. And as for the team, I want to make it past the first round of states with the league again.”
With the rising freshmen, new positions will be added in preparation for this upcoming season to help contribute to the team’s success. Freshman Payton Williams is expected to play a key role as a new member of the team. With the incoming 25-26 season, the team’s goal is to make it past the first round of states and win the League Championship as they did last year. For the past two years the team has only made it to the first round of states and hopes that this year they will increase the number of state games played.
