Going into his senior season of track and field, Cole Finnan has his eyes locked on nationals. Cole runs the 4×200 meter race followed by Lorenz Forsmann, Ruben Bell, and lastly Roman Messina. At Ocean Breeze Invitational the team ran 1.31.17, qualifying them to run in both states and nationals.
Cole started his track career at an early age, 4th grade to be specific. He says typical elementary sports did not interest him because “He was short growing up, and wasn’t really good at football or basketball.” Cole ran club track up until 2020 when Covid hit. It was difficult for him to adjust from club track to high school track calling high school track, “A whole different beast” saying he basically needed to “relearn how to run”. On top of the Covid-19 season he also switched high schools adding even more difficulty to his track career.
Upcoming, the runners are getting ready for the 4×200-meter relay and the 4×800-meter relay at Penn State. They are looking forward to improving their time further and try to place in states before going to nationals. Cole is excited to run at these events and his looking to continue his track career in college.
