Patriots Sing at Temple University

Jack Tompson

PHILADELPHIA – Thirty Patriots pulled into the student lot on a Sunday morning wearing suits and dresses and carrying black folders. They climbed aboard a bus and hit the road south towards Philadelphia, the first trip of its kind that fall.

The CB East Chamber Choir travelled to Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance to participate in its Cantate! high school chamber choir festival on October 9th. The Chamber Choir performed alongside nine other high school chamber choirs such as North Penn, Souderton, and Council Rock North as well as two collegiate choirs from the Boyer College itself. In an all-day forum, the Chamber Choir had the chance to perform in front of some of the best groups in the region as well as work with esteemed conductors and musicians such as Rollo Dilworth. The Chamber Choir of course also had the opportunity to watch other highly skilled choirs perform genres ranging from gospel, to pop, to classical choral compositions.

The Cantate! festival was the Chamber Choir’s first major event of the fall, with much more to come. The 2022-2023 school year is arguably one of the busiest years for the choir yet since the pandemic. The Chamber Choir will be singing at the Aldie Mansion’s annual Christmas charity banquet, among other venues for the caroling season. In addition, the entire choir will be travelling to Washington D.C. with the band in April. Additionally, the Chamber Choir has been invited alongside the Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble to go on a three-week tour of Europe with numerous other musical groups from the region this summer.

The CB East winter choir concert is slated for December 14th, where the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Baritone Choir and Treble Choir will be performing.
