Senior field hockey player Paige Keller has left a positive mark on the field hockey program at CB East. Being a 2x All State player, Paige has helped her team achieve success year after year by scoring 19 goals and 45 assists in her career placing her as the assist leader for her junior and senior season. To add onto such an impressive resume, Paige is also a 2x First-team all-league selection, 1x all-league honorable mention selection, Max Field Hockey Top 100 in nation class of 2024 selection, and earned the title of team MVP for her senior season. Paige was also regarded as an extremely hard and humble worker by her coach at signing day, “Paige is one of the best players to ever come through East’s field hockey program but probably ranks number one as the humblest.”
As a senior who finished her last ever high school game, Paige reflects on the season that was a crucial point in her lengthy field hockey career, “I view my freshman season at East as the most impactful on my field hockey career. That season we won the District Championship and finished top 4 in the State.” She goes on to explain how she was motivated by her former teammates to positively influence this year’s younger classmen, “I was surrounded by teammates that constantly pushed me to rise to the occasion and fight for my spot on the field… That made my senior season particularly special for me this year, giving me the opportunity to lead my team as a captain and hopefully have a similar impact on our current underclassmen.”
During her MVP season, Paige led the team to a 14-6 record, one of the better records in recent years. Paige accredits the winning season to the intangibles of the team, “While we didn’t have the same depth as we had in the past, the ability of our team to work hard and learn from mistakes allowed us to have a very successful season.” With a plethora of impressive accolades and statistics, it is a no brainer Paige was meant to play field hockey at the next level.
Regarding her decision to continue her career at the prestigious University of Connecticut, Paige reveals how she made her decision, “UConn has the perfect combination of athletics and academics I was looking for; with the excellent animal science/pre-vet major and the exceptional history of the field hockey program.” She then goes into more detail as to the athletic side and why it is the perfect fit, “The coaches create a positive yet hard-working environment that I feel is perfect for me. Additionally, upon stepping on campus, I loved the environment, specifically surrounding the sports teams.” By gaining Paige Keller as an athlete, UConn brings in a talented, humble, industrious worker for the next few seasons. It would be no surprise for her to continue her impressive qualitative and quantitative accolades into her college career based on how consistent they are seen throughout her high school career.
