With the upcoming CB East boys’ lacrosse team’s season just on the horizon, the expectations are being set for their season. Coming off a disappointing second-round loss in districts and finishing with a 12–7 season record, the new team is playing with something to prove. The boys have eight college commits with many returning starting seniors, highlighting the expectations for this year.
Senior defenseman Ben Bridegum, who recently committed to Muhlenberg College, stated his expectations for the season. “I expect us to have a great year and win the Suburban One League (SOL),” Ben said. “I also expect us to make a states run. This is due to all our experience and the work we have put in months ahead of the season.”
Senior goalie Ben Snyder, who will join Ben at Muhlenberg, said of the returning and upcoming talent on the team, “We have some serious talent with Michael Smallwood, Thomas Williams, Adam Volm, and Evan Riley that have shined for us through their years of playing at East, but new guys will step up this year for us as well. Freshman Ryan Williams will play a role alongside his two brothers Jack and Thomas. New guys like Aiden Zimmerer, Jack Williams, and Grant Bullard will see the field this year as well.”
Senior captain Michael Smallwood has ambitious aspirations for this upcoming season to potentially go far into states. “Last season ended unfulfilled; we knew we did not show what were capable of. Fortunately, I think that is our driving motivation for this year. The season ending was very emotional because we grew up playing with those seniors and seeing them leave was tough. But everyone is on the same page and is bought in on winning SOL, districts, and a huge state run. We know when we are on the field that we have the best talent. Once we put it together, we will be hard to stop.”
Be sure to follow the boys’ team this season as they hope to return to the playoffs.
