What made you want to become a teacher?
Mrs. Konnick’s Geometry/Trigonometry teacher in high school inspired her dream of teaching: “He showed me that it doesn’t matter what you look like or the way you are; if you have a dream and want to teach, you’re capable of accomplishing it.” She enjoys being around kids and loves to help those who are struggling gain confidence in new skills.
What made you want to teach math, and have you considered teaching anything else?
Mrs. Konnick fell in love with math during her junior year of high school. “Geometry was a struggle for me, but after taking trigonometry and pre-calculus, it all began to make sense and after this, I knew I wanted to help others struggling with math. This inspired my career of becoming a math teacher.”
Did you ever consider teaching anything else?
“I thought about teaching English, but then I didn’t want to have to constantly grade papers!” Mrs. Konnick ultimately decided to teach math to help kids understand what she struggled with in high school. Having a teacher that helped her out so much really inspired her to help other students one day.
Students who have been fortunate enough to have been taught by Mrs. Konnick shared why she is such an impactful teacher:
Senior Brady Weaver said, “Whenever I had a question, she made sure to always answer it in a way that I could understand. She also made math enjoyable.”
Ally Post said, “Her motivation for teaching is really inspiring. She makes all of her students feel welcome! She also never fails to dress up on theme days.”
Lizzie Steitz said, “Mrs. Konnick once said she became a teacher not because she loves math, but because she loves the kids. She truly cares about her students.” Lizzie also stated that she has had a truly profound impact on her life.
